What is the difference between PA12 and PA11?
PA12 (Polyamide 12) and PA11 (Polyamide 11) are both nylon-based materials used in MJF printing, but they serve different purposes. PA12 is the most widely used MJF material — it offers excellent dimensional accuracy, fine detail resolution, and a great strength-to-weight ratio, making it ideal for functional prototypes and end-use parts. PA11 is a bio-based nylon derived from castor oil, making it a more sustainable option. It is more flexible and impact-resistant than PA12, with better elongation at break, making it the preferred choice for parts that need to absorb shock, bend repeatedly, or withstand dynamic loads without cracking.
